We have now launched Scratchpad 2.0 within our AI-powered Code IDE. This feature offers a temporary, gitignored environment for creating and testing code snippets in SQL, dbt™ models, and Python.
The Scratchpad automatically generates a "paradime_scratch" folder to organize temporary files. These files, such as "scratch-1" and "scratch-2", are persistent across login sessions, allowing for continuous work without loss of progress. Users can rename files as needed, maintaining a structured workspace.
Key Benefits
Quick Testing: Great for quickly drafting and testing code snippets without impacting the main codebase.
Instant Feedback: Offers immediate results for SQL queries, facilitating rapid validation and debugging.
Organized Workflow: Files are gitignored, preventing repository clutter and maintaining code integrity.
For Who?
The Scratchpad caters to various roles within data teams:
Data Analysts: For efficient SQL query testing and analysis
Data Engineers: To prototype and validate dbt models
Developers: For Python script experimentation and general coding tasks
